Description
Eiswein, when naturally harvested which ours is, is harvested in a very short period (usually not longer than 72 hours) while the grapes are frozen on the vine. It is the ultimate in terms of ripeness and is the final stages of harvesting season. It is in part for this reason, graded as the highest of qualities, each grape also being hand selected. Our Eiswein is a Silvaner and Weissburgunder blend from the Rheinhessen region of Germany. This wine will have a remarkable concentration of fruit acidity and sweetness; We like to call it a fruit salad explosion in one's mouth. Typically served with rich, intensely flavored food/dishes, especially those which are particularily oily/fatty, salty, sweet and/or pungent in flavor; fresh fruit pies, cheesecake with fruit, sharp rich cheeses, goose liver pate with truffles. Wonderful by itself or with a cup of expresso (two distinctive extremes harmonizing/gravitating to the middle). Great for the holidays! and makes a perfect gift for a wine or hockey fan!
